Hyderabad, Nov 16 (IANS) Two people were killed and six others injured when an RTC bus collided with a parked truck in Telangana’s Jangaon district on Sunday.
The accident occurred near Nidigonda in Raghunathpalli mandal on the Hyderabad-Warangal Highway.
According to the police, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) Rajdhani bus rammed into a parked sand-laden truck from behind. The front part of the bus was badly damaged due to the collision.
Two bus passengers died on the spot, while six others were injured. The deceased were identified as Navjeet Singh, resident of Balasumadra, Hanumakonda, and P. Om Prakash, resident of Domalguda, Hyderabad.
The injured were admitted to the local hospital. The bus driver apparently did not notice the truck, which was parked on the side of the road.
Police have registered the case and started investigation.
The Telugu states have witnessed a series of road accidents involving buses during the last three weeks.
On November 3, 19 people lost their lives in a head-on collision between an RTC bus and a tipper truck in Rangareddy district of Telangana. A speeding truck carrying construction material hit the bus, which was going from Tandur to Hyderabad. Many passengers were buried under gravel.
Nineteen people were burnt to death when a private bus caught fire after crushing a motorcycle lying on the road following an accident near Kurnool city in Andhra Pradesh on October 24. A massive fire broke out due to sparks and fuel leakage from the bike.
On the night of November 3, a private travels bus overturned in Eluru district of Andhra Pradesh, killing one person and injuring 10 others. The accident occurred when the Bharati Travels bus, which was coming from Eluru to Hyderabad, overturned at a turn in Jubilee Nagar.
One person was killed and eight others were injured when a private travel bus collided with a truck in Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh on November 4. The accident occurred near Dhamajipalli in Chennakothappalle mandal.
On November 11, passengers had a narrow escape when a private travel bus caught fire on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway. The bus, which was going from Hyderabad to Kandukur, suddenly caught fire near Pitampalli in Chityala mandal of Nalgonda district of Telangana. The driver saw smoke coming from the engine and immediately stopped the bus. He alerted the passengers, and everyone got down before the flames engulfed the vehicle. There were 29 passengers in the bus of a private travel agency. The vehicle was completely gutted before the fire brigade could reach the spot to extinguish the fire.
