Russian air strikes on Ukraine killed two people overnight and left thousands of people – and the entire eastern Donetsk region – without power, Ukrainian officials said on Sunday.
Moscow has stepped up missile and drone attacks on Ukraine as winter approaches, knocking out power and forcing emergency workers to quickly repair damage and manage blackouts.
Two deaths occurred in Ukraine’s southern Odessa region, where officials said cargo trucks were attacked, while local officials said about 60,000 residents in the southeastern Zaporizhia region lost power.
Ukraine’s entire eastern Donetsk region, where Russia is advancing on the battlefield, is also experiencing emergency power cuts following attacks on energy infrastructure, Ukrainian Governor Vadim Fylashkin said.
