Indore, September 23 (IANS) Two persons were killed and 12 others were hurt when the three -storey building suddenly fell near Daulatganj area in Ranipura, Indore, the officials confirmed on Tuesday.
Situated on Jawahar Marg, the building fell around 9.30 pm on Monday night, which sent shockwaves through one of the busiest areas of the city.
The rescue teams reached the spot, struggling with darkness and debris to pull people from the rubble. The deceased included Alfia, a 20 -year -old woman and her uncle, Fimuddin Ansari. Both were found under the rubble and were declared dead at Maharaja Yeshwanto Hospital, where all the injured were admitted.
The injured include: A three -month -old girl named Yasira and a seven -year -old boy, Nabi Ahmed. Other victims include Altaf (28), Rafi Udin (60), Sabista Ansari (28), Sabiuddin (62), Salma BI (45), Alia Ansari (23), Shahida Ansari (55), Aminuddin (40), and Mohammad Ahmed.
Myh doctors said that while most of the injured are stable, they live in close observation. Dean of MGM Medical College, Dr. Arvind Ghanghoria said that four injured people are in critical condition.
Allegedly, the building of eight to ten years had shown signs of structural crisis for some time. The residents had expressed concern about cracks and falling plaster in the walls, but no action was taken.
According to other sources, the basement of the house was performed for years, in which the stable water was gradually erasing the foundation. Although the basement was closed, weakening the accumulated water structure over time, eventually leading to sudden collapse.
The incident has been being linked to family dispute for a long time, as no brother took responsibility for taking out the water, which is now believed that he has contributed directly to the tragedy.
The front part was recently rebuilt, while the back remained dangerously unstable.
On Monday evening, only a few people were inside, which neighbors say that the overcrowding of life was prevented. Police officials said that some trapped people managed to call a phone call from under the rubble, which helped the rescuers find them. An injured person told that his leg was stuck, but he said that he was otherwise safe.
Reaching the narrow streets of Daulatganj proved challenging for the rescue teams and ambulances, forcing them to take the injured on the stretcher through crowded streets on Jawahar Marg, where ambulances were stationed to take them to my hospital.
Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, District Collector Shivam Verma, and Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh were present at the site, coordinated the efforts and reached the victims immediately to ensure medical help.
The building was of Mustken Ansari and a total of four families of about 15 residents were kept.
According to Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh, 14 people were trapped, and 12 of them have been rescued. The remaining two were located and came out after a five -hour operation.
The authorities have promised a thorough investigation into the condition of the building and the failure of working on prior complaints. For now, the focus has been focused on treating the injured and supporting the affected families.
