Police said on Thursday that two hybrid militants associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (late) were arrested during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO), which was launched in coordination with 44 RR and 178 BN CRPF in Baskuchan area of shopkeepers district of South Kashmir.
He said that the region was closed and the movement of terrorists was seen in a nearby garden. Swift and coordinated action by the joint teams surrendered successful and eventually arrested two terrorists- Irfan Bashir and Uzare Salaam.
Officials said weapons and ammunition were recovered from their possession including two AK -56 rifles, four magazines, 102 rounds 7.62 × 39 mm, two hand grenades, two pouches, ₹ 5400 in cash, a mobile phone, a smartwatch, two biscuits, two biscuits, and one exchange cards.
An FIR has been lodged under the relevant sections and further investigation is going on. (GNS)
