Two gates of Baglihar Dam opened after heavy rains

Two gates of Baglihar Hydroelectric Power Project Dam have been opened on the Chenab River in Ramban.

Dam water is released due to heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir, which can cause flooding in the area.

The official said many vehicles have been stopped on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway due to landslides in Chamba.

Speaking to ANI on Thursday, Deputy Traffic Inspector (DTI) Udampur, Javed Kataria said, “A landslide in Chamba took place due to heavy rains in the region. That is why the roads have been completely blocked. Restoration of senior officers is going on … Hopefully the road will open again in 3-4 hours.”

Earlier on 6 May, all the doors of Baglihar Hydroelectric Power Project Dam were closed, even India continues to flow in limited amounts of water even after suspending the 1960 Indus Water Treaty Post Pahgam terror attack.

It comes a few days after the announcement of India, it will stop the Indus Water Treaty after the terrorist attack in Pahgam, killing 26 people.

A major hydroelectric power project on the Chenab River has been at the center of previous controversies under the Indus Water Treaty structure between Baglihar Dam, India and Pakistan.

The move received strong support from the residents of Jammu and Kashmir. He condemned Pakistan’s actions, warning that the abetment can lead to a constant fight and may repeat support for India’s recent measures.

After the Pahalgam attack, India has strongly protested against Pakistan to support terrorism across the cross-limit.

At the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 23 April, India decided to hold the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty in 1960 in the 1960s, until Pakistan reliably and unchanged ends its support for terrorism and closes the unified attitty -post post. (AI)
