Continuing its constant efforts to combat the threat of drug trafficking, the police arrested two drug pedals in Budgam and Kupwara and recovered the control substance and cash from their possession.
A spokesperson said that during patrolling in Hakuramulla village, the police team of Police Post Soibug stopped a suspect carrying a nylon bag. He has now been identified as Hakuramullah, a resident of Rashid Hazam, son of Bilal Ahmed Hazam alias Lakh. During the search, 6.323 kg of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from its possession.
Meanwhile, in Kupwara, a police team from PS Kupwara at a checkpoint installed in Kupwara arrested a drug pedal man identified as Umer Aziz Payer, who was the son of AB Azij Payer, a resident of Chericut Lolb Kupwara. During the search, sufficient amount of heroin -like substance was recovered from their possession. Initial investigation revealed that the accused were engaged in smuggling illegal drugs.
On the discovery of his disclosure, Munzoor Ahmed Mir @ Manna Tanagar’s son Mohad Maqbool was a resident of Khumaril in the shop and residential house of another accused person. During the search, adequate amounts of drugs and cash amount were recovered from the possession of 4,93,100/-VAS.
Accordingly, cases have been registered under the relevant section of the law and investigation has been initiated.
