DGP Yadav said that accused Bikramjit Singh is associated with terrorist organization Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) and has a criminal history.
He was also involved in a grenade attack on a religious place in Raja Sansi in 2018.
The DGP said preliminary investigation revealed that accused Bikramjeet had purchased illegal weapons from across the border on the instructions of his foreign handlers to commit crimes in the state.

Earlier, on October 31, DGP Gaurav Yadav had said that Punjab Police had arrested three operatives of the banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) for writing pro-Khalistan slogans on the walls of schools in Punjab.
The New York-based SFJ is backed by mastermind Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a dual US-Canadian citizen who has been designated a terrorist by the Indian government. The arrested have been identified as Navjot Singh alias Jota (24) and Gurpreet Singh (26), both residents of Kaliyawala village in Firozpur; And Harjinder Singh, resident of Mananwala, Bathinda.
Police have also recovered four mobile phones and a dongle device from their possession.
According to the information, on the night of 19 and 20 October, pro-Khalistan slogans were found written on the walls of two schools including a school in Mananwala village.
