Two arrested for gang-interview of senior citizens in Bengal; Accused of being produced in court today

Kolkata, 2 October (IANS) Police of Baruipur police district in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal arrested two persons in connection with the gang-blessing of a senior citizen in Kultali in the same district on Wednesday night.

Both the accused persons will be presented in a district court in South 24 Parganas on Thursday, and public prosecutors will demand their police custody, said a senior official of Baripur police district.

The accused of a third person in the case is still absconding, and the police have started a complete operation to track him. All nearby police stations have been alerted about the third absconding accused.

The incident occurred after midnight on Tuesday, when the three accused men arrived at the victim’s residence, a senior citizen, who is 60 years old, to steal chicken from a hen coup.

As soon as the female woke up to listen to the sounds and challenged the thieves, the three accused people lured her and raped her after pulling her into a room in her house.

Later on Wednesday, the police arrested two of the three accused, while the third criminal somehow managed to escape until the report was filed.

According to the statement given by the victim to the local police, she was alone at home on Tuesday night when the accused persons committed a crime against her.

The senior citizen reported that she was alone at her home as her husband was in the hospital in connection with an eye surgery. He also said that three miscreants were carrying a country-made pistol and a sharp weapon, which he had threatened him while committing a crime against him.
