President Donald Trump addresses the nation, touting his achievements during the last 11 months Americans are disappointed with his handling of the economy.
Trump began his address Wednesday night in a familiar spot, the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House. By blaming his predecessor Joe Biden.
Trump said, “When I took office, inflation was the worst in 48 years, and some would say in the history of our country, causing prices to rise higher than ever before, making life unaffordable for millions upon millions of Americans.” “This happened during a Democrat administration.”
He also unveiled a “warrior dividend” for more than 1,450,000 military service members and said each of them would receive $1,176, which he claimed would be partially paid for from their tariffs.
Trump said, “Wages have gone up, prices have gone down. Our country is strong. America is respected and our country has come back stronger than ever. We are ready for an economic boom like the world has never seen before.”
Critics pointed out that the President used the national address to repeat “often debunked” claims, including that he “deposed eight wars in 10 months” and that grocery prices were falling “rapidly.”
Others commented that Trump appeared to “yell” into the microphone during the address, which was broadcast live by several networks.

Their live reactions were limited and few nodded when the president talked about pay increases.
Harp reportedly had a smile on his face during the entire speech, while Leavitt watched it on a monitor to see how it would look on TV.
When the comments were over and everything was given the all-clear to the President, he turned to the press and said, “You think it’s easy?” And then took a sip of Diet Coke.
“I’d love to do yours, just click,” he told photo pooler Doug Mills.

Full story: Trump delivers national address in rally-style speech blaming Biden for the state of his nation
President Donald Trump used his nationally televised speech on Wednesday to deliver a campaign-style speech in which he blamed his predecessor for the economic problems being felt by Americans a year into his presidency, while offering little in the way of proposals to address rising prices caused by the massive tariffs he has imposed on nearly all American imports. Andrew Feinberg writes.
Speaking from the Diplomatic Reception Room at the White House, Trump began by claiming that he “inherited a mess” that he is now “fixing.”
What happened next was partisan rhetoric indistinguishable from the signature rallies that have been the centerpiece of his political movement, in which he laid out a list of grievances blaming his predecessor for the state of the country nearly a full year after taking the oath of office.
