Leader of Opposition in Tripura Assembly Animesh Debbarma urges Chief Minister Manik Saha to allow students to use Bengali and Roman script in board examinations for classes 10 and 12 Writing the Kokborok test paper. The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) will start conducting the Class 10 and 12 examinations from March 1.

“It is very unfortunate that the Board has stuck to its decision to allow students to write Kokborok papers in Bengali script only citing limited resources. The Board has been allowing students to write Kokborok in Bengali and Roman scripts for 15 to 17 years. This means They are capable of evaluating Kokborok papers in both languages,” he told reporters on Thursday.

Expressing concern over whether students will not be allowed to write Kokborok question papers in Roman script in the upcoming board examinations, Debbarma urged the chief minister to look into the matter and allow students to write Kokborok question papers in Roman and Bengali scripts. This had previously been the practice of boards of directors.

“As the chief minister and education minister, you will be held responsible if anything goes wrong during the exams. There may be riots, movements or road blockades by angry students. There are also concerns about the law and order situation over the script issue,” he said.

Earlier, Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Manikya had demanded that if students are not allowed to write in Bengali and Roman script Kok Borok Papers removed board chairman Dhananjoy Gonchowdhury.
