Agartala, Nov 23 (IANS) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has said he has directed the West Tripura District Magistrate and the Directorate of Education to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the untimely death of Dipannita Pal, a Class 2 student of a local school.
The Chief Minister, who holds the elementary and secondary education portfolios, visited the residence of late Dipannita Pal in Jogendra Nagar on the outskirts of Agartala and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family members.
CM Saha told the media on Saturday, “I am keeping an eye on the case. I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Dipannita Pal and express my heartfelt condolences to the family members. The untimely demise of an innocent child is truly heartbreaking and painful.”
She said her office was in regular touch with the doctors when she was admitted to the Govind Ballabh Pant Medical College and Hospital.
He said, “Despite the best efforts of the doctors, Dipannitha did not leave us and return. Necessary instructions have been given to the District Magistrate and the Directorate of Education to investigate the incident. Appropriate action will be taken based on the investigation report. The state government will stand with the bereaved family and provide maximum support to the family in this difficult time.”
Meanwhile, a horrific incident took place in Agartala last week when seven-year-old Deepanita, a class 2 student, lost her life due to alleged negligence of the school authorities.
An eight-year-old boy has reportedly died of severe heatstroke, days after being forced to stand in the scorching heat during a school function.
According to family sources, after reaching school on November 9, the students were instructed to participate in an outdoor program in direct sunlight.
Despite repeatedly complaining to her teacher that she was feeling unwell, Deepanita was reportedly forced to stand in the heat.
Eyewitnesses say that during the incident the girl suddenly fell on the ground.
On receiving the sad news, his family members reached the school and immediately took him to the hospital.
Doctors confirmed that he had suffered severe sunstroke, and that the impact had left one side of his body paralyzed.
Dipannita remained under medical treatment for several days, fighting for her life, before she died on November 18, leaving her family devastated and the community in shock.
