Kolkata, September 21 (IANS) A Trinamool Congress councilor was arrested within his belongings with a magazine and six round cartridges, while he was trying to ride in a domestic flight at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata on Sunday.
The Trinamool Congress leader has been identified as Sheikh Aminul Islam of Ward No. 14 of Pujali Municipality in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
He was designed to ride a domestic flight to Mumbai.
After scanning their belongings, security personnel at the airport noted the existence of metal substances within their belongings.
The councilor was immediately separated from the place and after that a magazine and six rounds of 7.65 cartridges were recovered through a gust of his luggage.
The councilor could not give a satisfactory answer as to why he was carrying the cartridge and the magazine and could not present any documents authorized to take them.
Subsequently, he was arrested and handed over to the local police station.
The police has started an investigation into the case.
At that time, a report was filed, but there was no response from the Trinamool Congress leadership in the matter.
Incidentally, on Sunday morning, there was an incident of firing in a gym in the Charu Market area of South Kolkata, when two unidentified persons entered the facility wearing a raincoat and sporting helmet and shot a couple of bullets from firearms who were carrying them.
However, fortunately no one was injured.
After firing the bullets, both the crooks fled from the spot.
The police has started an investigation into the case.
Police suspect that the owner of the gym was their goal.
