‘Tribute to Gautam Gambhir’: Sunil Narine hits 39-ball 85 against Delhi Capitals and the internet explodes

Sunil Narine hit a stunning half-century in just 21 deliveries as Kolkata Knight Riders played against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 on Wednesday batting performance. The all-rounder was once again tasked with opening the batting alongside Phil Salter and he looked superb as he completely dismantled the DC bowling attack. Narine’s best game was against Ishant Sharma where he ended up scoring 26 points and scored 88 runs in the powerplay. In the end, he scored 85 runs in just 39 deliveries with the help of 7 boundaries and 7 sixes. Social media was full of praise for him and also praised KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir for promoting Narine.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat.

DC and KKR locked horns in the 16th encounter of IPL 2024. The Kolkata-based team currently sit second in the table with four points from two games. The Capitals are in seventh place with just two points from three games.

Both teams come into the game having won their last games against their opponents. DC defeated five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 20 runs on March 31, while Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 7 wickets on March 29 .

“We batted first. The wicket looked like a belt and it didn’t change much from the last game. It’s been quite a journey… anything on a given day It all can happen and it’s important to stick to the process “We have Sunil (Narine) coming in and following the bowlers in the first 6 overs, so his role is very clear and the others know what is expected of them. One change – Angrish Raghuvanshi comes in,” Iyer said after winning the toss.

DC captain Rishabh Pant claimed that they will bat and the wickets will be slower.

“We’ll also bat first and can be a little slower. It’s good to be back in the team but I’m not thinking too far ahead. The bowlers did a great job and bowled the ball at a good pace and we’ll hope they do it again. No. Thinking about the team combination for the first two games, but we have people working hard in the nets. We just have to keep doing the right things – one change, Mukesh was injured and he was also injured and was replaced by Sumit,” said Pant Said during the toss.
