Hyderabad, October 12 (IANS) A 33-year-old tribal woman was allegedly raped and murdered in Telangana’s Medak district. Police gave this information on Sunday.
On Saturday, a woman found unconscious due to head injury died while being taken to Hyderabad for treatment.
The daily wage laborer woman had left her house for labor work on Friday. On Saturday morning, she was lying unconscious due to head injury under a tree in Kulcharam Mandal. Local residents had alerted the police.
The victim, a mother of five, was initially taken to a local hospital and later referred to another hospital in Hyderabad, but she died on the way on Saturday night.
Police suspect that the woman has been gang-raped. After the sexual assault, the assailants attacked her with stones.
Based on the complaint of the woman’s husband, the police have registered a case of rape and murder and started investigation.
Police have sent the victim’s body for post-mortem and are examining CCTV footage near the crime scene for clues.
Meanwhile, in a shocking incident, an engineering student, unable to deal with the stress of studies, committed suicide in Hanumakonda district of Telangana.
Police said on Sunday that J. Keerthan (19) hanged himself at his residence in Gopalpur village of Elkathurthi mandal.
Keertan was a first year B.Tech student at a private engineering college in Hyderabad. She lived in the college hostel.
Recently he told his parents on phone that he was unable to understand the lectures. She was also sad due to being away from home. The parents had called him home and were trying to get him admitted to another college.
The girl’s father Krishnakar told the police that she hanged herself when she was alone at home on Saturday.
He told the police that when he returned home he found her hanging. The family brought him down and called the Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP), who declared him dead.
On Krishnakar’s complaint, the police have registered a case and started investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem.
Kirtan was the youngest of Krishnakar’s three children.
