With the aim of promoting inclusive education and empowering tribal youth, the Department of Tribal Affairs (TAD) today gave the scholarship ₹ 4.7 crore for 2,308 Scheduled Tribes (ST) students.
Under the instructions of Tribal Affairs Minister, Javed Ahmed Rana, a total amount of 4,71,61,575/- has been released to support the educational aspirations of meritorious and qualified students of ST students in Jammu and Kashmir.
The decision reflects the government -led government -led government to reduce financial burden on tribal families and ensure equal access to educational opportunities.
The objective of the scholarship is to create a strong structure that addresses the educational, social and economic upliftment of tribal communities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister of Tribal Affairs has also directed the Department of Tribal Affairs to take immediate steps to bring the newly listed communities under the status of the Scheduled Tribes under the Scholarship Government of the Department.
“This will enable eligible students of these communities to avail scholarship benefits, expanding the access and impact of this initiative,” he said.
The department of tribal affairs is making tireless efforts to ensure that the benefits of this scheme reach the most qualified students.
Director informing tribal matters, “The proposal has already been submitted to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Ministry of Government of India, Government of India.”
He said, an additional amount of ₹ 1.44 crore is expected to be released soon to cover more students.
