Traffic police released the latest advisor for Jammu-Srinagar NHW for Amarnath Yatra

Web Desk, 06/07/2025

Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K has issued an updated traffic advisor for passengers and transport operators between the ongoing maintenance challenges and the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025.

On July 5, from 5:00 pm to July 6, from 4:00 pm, a slow pace was observed with the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) due to the breakdown of three heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) and single-lane traffic between Marog and Kistwari Pathar. Passengers are advised to plan their journey accordingly.

Important guidelines for passengers:

Residents of Rasi, Katra, Udhamur, Patnitop, Doda, and Ramban should take a valid photo ID from Jammu/Udampur to ensure a smooth route after cut-IF timing.

Passengers and LMV operators are advised to travel only during daylight, only due to the risk of shooting stones in Ramban-Banihal stretch.

Perishbals or livestock -transporting goods vehicle operators are urged to strictly follow loading guidelines and advisory time due to poor road conditions.

Fruit growers and load carriers from the valley should load and park the load and park vehicles before 9:00 pm daily between Navy Tunnel and Levadura to ensure timely movement.

Overloading is strictly discouraged. HMVS should carry enough fuel and ensure vehicle fitness before starting its journey.

Traffic plan for July 7, 2025:

Under the weather and road conditions, Sanji convoy, LMV, passengers and private vehicles will be allowed from both directions on NH -44 (Jammu ↔ Srinagar).

HMVS will be allowed only in alternative days. TCU will coordinate with TCU Ramban before releasing traffic.

Cut-off timing for LMVS/passenger vehicles:

Nagota (Jammu): 0600 pm – 1200 pm

In view of the journey, tankers carrying petroleum products, LPGs, and other essential supplies, as well as empty FCI trucks, should return via NH -44 via NH -44, as per the order of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir on 1 July 2025.

Updates on alternative routes:

Kishtwar-sinthan-nantnag road (nh-244):

LMVs and high-primary service vehicles (HPSVs) will be allowed in both ways, provided the NHIDCL grant withdrawal.

Movement Time:

Parana to Anantnag: 0800 pm – 1600 pm

Daksam to Teenage: 0900 pm – 1500 pm

On May 16, 2025, no other HMV is allowed as per SDM orders.

Minamarg to Srinagar: 0500 pm – 1000 pm

Sonamarg to Kargil: 1130 am – 1730 pm

The convoy of security forces has to proceed in coordination to avoid disintegration in travel.

Mughal Road:

LMVS/passenger vehicles will be allowed from both sides (Jammu ↔ srinagar) via poonch.
