Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K, issued a detailed traffic plan and advice for the passengers, freight carriers, and Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims, which were traveling on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and other major routes, valid for August 4, 2025.
The advisor comes to light on the road conditions challenging the road situation due to slow traffic movement and landslides and shooting stones, especially with Ramban-Banihal stretch.
Traffic update (August 2-3, 2025):
On August 3 from 2 August to 1600 pm to 3 August, two heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) were seen to be a slow traffic on the NH-44 due to the breakdown of two heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) and the breakdown of single-lane restrictions in Nashri-Dalwas and Marog-Kishtwari.
The officials advised passengers from Rasi, Katra, Udampur, Patnitop, Doda and Ramban to carry a valid photo ID for smooth movement beyond the cut-off time from Jammu and Udampur. Passengers and LMV operators are strongly urged to travel during the daylight due to the risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
Advice for the goods carrier:
The goods carrier who transports poor perishbals or livestock should follow the advice to load the advice due to poor road conditions.
Vehicles carrying Parishbals from the valley should load and park before 9:00 am daily at the specified places between Nausag Tunnel and Levadura.
Overloading is strictly banned. Operators should ensure vehicle fitness and fuel adequate before starting the journey.

LMVs/Private Cars: NH-44 (Jammu-Srinagar) from both directions, subject to weather and road conditions.
Cut-off timing:
Nagota (Jammu): 0600–1200 pm
Jakheni (Udhampur): 0700–1300 hrs
Kajigund towards Jammu: 1130–1400 pm
Hmvs/load carriers:
The Jammu Post was allowed from the Navy Tunnel (Kajigund) towards the Post Traffic Assessment. No HMV is allowed after 1900.
You can ply through HMV Dhar Road with 6 and 10 tires.
Special provision for Amarnath ji Yatra 2025:
Fuel, LPG (load/empty), FCI empty truck, and others with ARE10 tires should use the Mughal Road while returning to Jammu, according to the order of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir (No. 7055-75, dated 01-07-2025).

Kishtwar-Sinthan-nantnag (NH-244):
LMVs and HPSVS allowed both sides to allow the weather permission to 0800–1600 at 0800–1600 (Anantnag from 0900–1500 (from Kishtwar), weather permission. No HMVs are allowed except designated HPSVs.
Srinagar-Sanamarg-Gumari (SSG) Road:
After LMVs, HMVs were allowed by Minamarg to Srinagar (0500–1000 hrs) and Sonamarg to Kargil (1130–1730 hrs).
The convoy of security forces should plan to avoid disrupting the travel convoy.
Mughal Road:
LMVS allowed both ways. HMVs () 10 tires) were allowed from Shopian to Poonach between 0700–1800 pm.
