Mumbai Traffic Police on Wednesday announced new traffic diversions in Sakinaka traffic division due to the ongoing construction work on Mumbai Metro Line 6. The diversion will be effective from November 5, 2025 to January 15, 2026.

According to the advisory, diversion will be implemented between Milindnagar and Ganeshghat Selfie Point on Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR). These measures have been taken to ensure smooth traffic movement and safety during the construction phase.

According to an order issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic-Eastern Suburbs) Pradeep Chavan, the diversion is required to help the elements launching work being carried out by Eagle Infra India Limited on the JVLR.

Metro Line 6 Alternate Route JVLR

The service road on the north side of L&T flyover on JVLR from AM Naik Tower Road to Saki Vihar Road will remain closed for all vehicles.

Instead, motorists can take an alternative route via northbound JVLR at Ganeshghat Selfie Point, go under Rambagh Bridge, take a U-turn, and return southbound towards Powai Junction and Saki Vihar Road via Ganeshghat Selfie Point.

Metro 4 Construction: GMLR

On Tuesday, the Mumbai Traffic Police also announced traffic restrictions on the Bhandup-Sonapur stretch of the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) due to the ongoing work on Mumbai Metro Line 4.

According to a traffic notification issued by Mumbai Police, civic authorities will carry out major work for the Metro-4 line at the GMLR (Bhandup-Sonapur) junction on Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg.

Officials will install a 56-metre long steel span for the metro. It will be installed in two phases using cranes, multi-axle trailers and other heavy machinery. Because of this, traffic movement will be restricted in the area during the installation period.

The road will be blocked from 10 pm on 1 November to 10 am on 2 November and from 10 pm to 7 am on 3 November. If the work is not completed on time, the same route will remain closed next weekend on 9th and 10th November.

LBS Road: Alternative route

Additionally, one lane of Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Road is expected to remain closed for about two months from November 3 to December 31 for the ongoing Metro-related work.

Vehicles coming from Powai and JVLR towards Mulund via LBS Road will have to take a 2.5 km detour before rejoining LBS Road at Mulund West and vehicles coming from Mulund West will be diverted via Eastern Express Highway (EEH) and can continue their journey via JVLR.
