Traffic advisor issued for Jammu -Srinagar NH -44 amidst the ongoing Amarnath Yatra

The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police Headquarters has issued a detailed advice for passengers traveling with the Jammu -Srinagar National Highway (NH -44), which highlights the slow traffic, road damage and important movement restrictions, traffic regulations and security instructions between the religious pilgrims running at slow traffic, road damage and ongoing religious pilgrims.

Between July 26, 1600 pm and 27 July, 1600 pm, a slow vehicle movement was observed on NH-44 due to the breakdown of three heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) and the ongoing single-lane restrictions in the important parts of the drug and Marog and Kistastar Pathar.

Movement ban and security guidelines

Passengers of Rasi, Katra, Udhampur, Patnitop, Doda, and Ramban are advised to take photo ID cards for trouble-free route after cut-time from Jammu/Udham.

The day trip is strongly advised for light motor vehicles (LMVs) and passengers, which, especially in the Ramban-Banihal section due to the risk of shooting stones.

The goods carrier transporting bad goods or livestock should follow to load the schedule and strictly follow the guidelines due to road fall and bottleneck in Nashri-dal and Marog.

Fruit growers and HMV/LMV operators will have to park their vehicles before 9:00 pm in the designated areas between the Navig Tunnel and Levadura for timely removal.

Vehicle owners are instructed to avoid overloading, ensure vehicle fitness and supply adequate fuel.

Only 6 and 10 tires HMVs are allowed to ply through Dhar Road.

Passengers should avoid unnecessary stops between Ramban and Banihal, especially in weak landslide areas.

Under favorable weather and road conditions, Sanji convoy, LMV and private passenger cars will be allowed from both directions on NH -44. HMV will work on alternative days, and after coordination with TCU Ramban will be given withdrawal for movement by Traffic Control Units (TCU) in Jammu and Srinagar.

Cut-off timing for vehicles

From Nagrota (Jammu) to Srinagar: 0600 am to 1200 pm

From Jakhani (Udhampur) to Srinagar: 0700 am to 1300 pm

From Qazigund to Jammu: 1130 am to 1400 pm

HMV will be allowed after assessment of conditions from Udhampur to Srinagar, but no HMV will be allowed after 1900.

Special measures for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025

For the convenience of smooth movement during the journey, the administration has stated that petroleum products, LPG, empty LPG cylinders, FCI vehicles, and other tankers and trucks with more than 10 tires should use the Mughal Road while returning to Jammu, according to the direction of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir on 1 July.

Additional route advisor

Institute-Sythan-Anantnag Road (NH-244): LMVS and designated HPSVs can travel from both sides during the designated hours, subject to withdrawal from NHIDCL. According to SDM orders, HMV is not allowed except the designated vehicles.

Srinagar-Sanamarg-Gumari Road (SSG Road): Traffic is allowed in a regulated manner based on broad clearance. After HMVs, LMVs can travel to Minamarg (0500 am to 1000 pm to 1000 pm) and Sonamarg from Kargil (1130 am to 1730 pm).

Mughal Road: LMV permission from both sides; HMVS (up to 10 tires) allows according to Divcom’s advisor, between Shopian to Poonach between 0700 am to 1800 pm.
