A newly released survey shows that the number of homeless people in Toronto has exceeded double between the spring and final decline of 2021.
Toronto’s Street Needs Assessment (SNA) Survey It is estimated that 15,400 people were homeless in Toronto in October 2024, from around 7,300 in April 2021.
The report stated that spike is the result of several issues, including affordable housing deficiency, health care, insufficient income support, and matter use struggle.
The report stated, “more than 15,000 estimates that more than 15,000 people were feeling homeless in October 2024, of which 1,615 people live outside. It is experienced in 2021 compared to a total of 7,300 people,” the report states.
It says that the increase in Toronto affects the position of Ontario and the Kovid -19 epidemic in the entire Canada directly homeless.
“While progress has been progressed since 2024 SNA, the city continues to provide emergency housing to around 9,000–10,000 people, and each night is on capacity with more demand than shelter system availability.”
The report said strategic reactions are required for the housing crisis and Toronto is already seeing a decrease in the number of homeless people due to low refugee contenders, low encroachment numbers and movement of people in permanent houses of people.
The city reports that a total of 1,078 people living outside were sent to the shelter system, and over 4,300 people were kept last year.
