A 26-year-old software professional from Toronto is now $ 60 million rich after winning the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Jackpot from a draw on 7 May-and credits two simple decisions for the fate of his life-changing.
After purchasing his ticket online through Bocheng Mei Olg.CA, Ontario became the newest lover of Ontario and joined the site’s “Never Miss a Draw” membership service, which automatically enters the players every draw. His second lucky step? Answer the phone call from an unknown number.
“I do most of the goods online, so I chose my own numbers, added encor, and did not have to think about it again,” said Mei.
“I saw lottery winners in news and on social media, so I decided to examine Olg.CA. It was convenient – and clearly worth it.”
A phone call that changed everything
Boocheng said that he had no idea that he had won Jackpot until he received the phone from OLG, he asked him to check his online account. Doubt in the first, he started researching the collar in real time.
“I started to go to them to see if they were valid,” he remembered. “I have enough experience to find the scam call. I knew that they were really from OLG because they did not ask for banking information. They asked me only to check my account.”
What he saw was staggering.
“Said that I won $ 60 million. My hands and feet became numb.”
Still in mistrust, Bocheng said that a representative of OLG peacefully drove him with the next steps. But the time could not be more real.
“As soon as I got off the phone, I had to attend a work meeting. I tried to play it quiet, but inside, my feelings were everywhere.”
Break the news
After logging in from whatever came out as the most real working day of his life, Boocheng called his parents.
“I tried to calm down. They were surprised and wanted to ensure that it was not a scam. I told them that they would not need to worry about money again. I said that they could retire and enjoy life.”
It took about a week to sink the reality. Eventually, Bocheng shared the news with a small group of close friends.
“They were jumping for happiness. I am not super expressive, but they were acting in the same way I was feeling inside. I am lucky for them.”
Next step
With $ 60 million in hand, Bocheng has no intention of ruining the opportunity. His bucket list is thoughtful and is based in a sense of personal development and gratitude.
“I like to learn, so I want to chase more education. I want to find out various cultures too – a lot of journey is ahead. And I really want to see Arora Borelis, maybe in Finland or Iceland.”
Close to the house, Bocheng is planning to buy a house in Toronto and most importantly, takes care of his parents.
“I can now change my life with me. I can provide for them and make a lot of things that were not possible earlier.”
While showing his remarkable journey from online ticket buyer to immediate multi-millionaire, Bocheng offered a final view with a smile.
“Most of my friends don’t buy lottery tickets – I think I am only one. But now that it is news, I think they will change their minds.”
From May 7, 2025, the winning ticket, draw was purchased online at Olg.CA.
