Tom Aspinall Revealed he has undergone surgery for the eye injury he suffered during his heavyweight title defense Cyril Gunn at UFC 321, but there are still hurdles to overcome before a possible return to the cage.

He has now provided a further update, revealing that he has had surgery on one of his eyes, with his next surgery scheduled for the new year.

Aspinall said on his YouTube channel: “I’ve had surgery on one side and my next surgery will be in mid-January. We’re working hard on my recovery.”

He previously confirmed that he is “not currently doing anything MMA-related” and that he is “following his doctor’s instructions right now to see how his health changes.”

Aspinall also reiterated his desire for a rematch with Gunn after their first match ended in a frustrating no-contest.
