New Delhi, September 21 (IANS) ‘Naamo Yuva Run’ will be organized across the country on Sunday, where more than 10 lakh young participants are expected to run together.
The mega event will be held at 75 places across the country.
The Bharatiya Janata Juta Yuva Morch (BJYM) announced on September 7 that this mass initiative would focus on nationwide fitness and social awareness.
The initiative is part of the ceremonies organized by the BJP to mark the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which was on 17 September.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, BJYM President and MP Tejasavi Surya said that the run is being organized under the theme “Nasha Mutt Bharat” (Drug-Find India).
“In the last decade, under the leadership of PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, India has launched a successful campaign against drugs. This run is not only about fitness, but also about strengthening our youth against the threat of addiction, who weakens individuals and endanger national security,” he said.
Surya highlighted that 10,000 to 15,000 participants would appear at each place, making it the biggest participation of the country.
Actor and fitness icon Milind Soman, named the brand ambassador of the event, will also be involved in the campaign.
“Since my high school days, I have praised Milind Soman. He remains the most worthy Indian today and is a role model for young India. But above this, Prime Minister Modi himself is the greatest inspiration for the youth,” Surya commented.
The BJYM leader linked the drug problem with comprehensive security challenges, including narco-attitude, cross-border smuggling and Naxalite financing.
He said that in the last 10 years, India has greatly increased enforcement, seizing more than 24 lakh kg of narcotics between 2014 and 2024, compared to just 3.6 lakh kg in the last decade.
“In the previous year, 10 million kilograms of drugs have been confiscated and destroyed,” he said.
‘Namo Yuva Run’ will be flagged off on Sunday, which will bring millions of young Indians together in a synchronized nationwide call for fitness, discipline and drug-free future.
