To promote connectivity in the Pir Panjal region, work on the cloud-mind-gool road in full enthusiasm

Megha Budhal-Maur-Gul Road Project in Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir is growing rapidly under the supervision of border roads (BRO), especially 31 BRTF (Border Rhodes Task Force).

Bro Commanding Officer Major Aditya Sharma said, “Road construction work is going on in full swing. We are constructing a total of 114 km of roads. It has a total of 4 packages. Currently, package 1 and 2 are in full swing.

Highlighting the challenges, Major Sharma said, “It is very risky to construct roads in a mountainous region. The weather is always bad, and we also have to take care of our employees’ lives. We have to cut long mountains. Working in this way is definitely risky; however, no work is difficult if we are determined.”

The agency engaged in the project has deployed heavy machinery and a large workforce despite the difficult areas. The road, which detects some of the most bumpy areas of the Pir Panjal region, is considered a catalyst for an engineering achievement and socio-economic change.

“This project will lead to significant progress,” Sharma said, “It will promote tourism, reduce travel time and benefit the area in many ways.”

Ashwini Sharma, a worker in the project, said, “It is challenging to build a road in such mountainous areas, but we are happy because this work will be benefited a lot. Earlier, it took us about 5-6 hours to reach home. Now, with this road, it will take only two.”

He said, “The important thing is that we want to thank the Government of India for this initiative. We are proud of our government; this work has given us employment.”

Earlier, a narrow single-lane track that was often blocked during the rainy season is now being widened to ensure the movement of smooth and uninterrupted vehicles.

Once completed, Megha-Budhal-Mahor-Gul Road will serve as a small and more efficient route connecting Rajouri, Budhal, Gaul, Ramban and Rasi. This will reduce the time of the journey and improve connectivity in the Pir Panjal belt.

The project has already become a source of employment for thousands of local youth, including engineers, machine operators, drivers, helpers and laborers. In addition, four major bridges are also being constructed along the route, which will further increase the reliability and connectivity of this corridor.

Local people and stakeholders have widely appreciated the efforts of the bro and private agencies to perform this important project, which is changing the developmental landscape of the region.
