TN CM Stalin Kondol Death of Tamil actor Robo Shankar

Chennai, 19 September (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday expressed his grief over the death of popular comedian and actor Robo Shankar, called him a versatility, which brought happiness to the audience in the stage, television and cinema.

In a statement released, the Chief Minister said, “I am saddened to hear about the demise of actor Robo Shankar. He was a talented artist who entertained the people of Tamil Nadu through his performance on stage, television and film. I provide deep condolences and sympathy to lose my family and the grandeur of the film.”

Robo Shankar, whose real name was Shankar, started his career as a mimicry and stage artist before growing prominently through a comedy show on television.

His spontaneous humor, a specific style of copying, and the ability to connect with the audience made him a domestic name.

Later he transitioned in Tamil cinema, created a place for himself in comic and character roles.

His success in films came with ‘Idarkuthane Ausipatti Balakumara’ (2013), where his bizarre performance earned widespread praise.

Over the years, he appeared in many successful films, including ‘Mari’, ‘Vagai Suda Via’, ‘Tharai Thappattai’, showing their nature not only for comedy but also to play layered assistant characters.

His role in ‘Vishwasam’ with Ajit Kumar further strengthened his popularity with the mainstream audience.

Apart from films, Robo Shankar was also a familiar face on Tamil television, where he served as a judge and artist at the comedy show.

His energetic appearance and improvised Kaushal made him a favorite among young audiences as well.

Industry colleagues and fans have filled with tribute to social media, remembering their warmth, humility, and the ability to make people laugh as well.

Many described him as a “natural entertainment”, the disadvantage of which leaves a major void in the comedy landscape of Tamil cinema.

As condolences, Chief Minister Stalin’s message reflected the mood of mourning in the cultural circles of Tamil Nadu, which the late actor highlighted affection for the command.

Robo Shankar survived his wife and daughter.
