Chennai, Oct 12 (YS) Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Andran on Sunday launched the party’s ambitious statewide campaign, titled “Tamil Nadu: Tamizharin Payanam (Tambika Nadu: The Journey of Tamils), with a major public event at the theater sometime in Anna Nagar.
The launch marked the formal beginning of the BJP’s election campaign ahead of the 2026 state assembly elections.
In this program, Union Minister L. Murugan, former state BJP president K. Annamalai and several prominent BJP leaders, including senior AIADMK leaders and former ministers RP Udayakumar and Sellur Raju, attended, indicating the strength of the BJP-AIADMK alliance.
A major highlight of the event was the release of a new BJP campaign anthem, featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and late AIADMK leader and former Chief Minister J. Contained excerpts from Jayalalithaa’s speeches.
The song, which strongly criticized both DMK and Congress, was strongly supported by the people.
Amid the BJP anthem, Jayalalitha’s commanding voice echoed across the venue, she said: “Is there any family anywhere in the world where the father is the Chief Minister, the son is the Deputy Chief Minister, another son is a Union minister, yet another relative holds a central party post, and the daughter is a Member of Parliament (referring to the DMK) – all grabbing power like a fish eating mud?”
As his words echoed, AIADMK’s RP Udayakumar was seen clapping enthusiastically, while party member Sellur Raju smiled knowingly – a moment that caught the attention of the audience and underlined the emotional connect between the AIADMK and the BJP.
Earlier, Nagendran had offered prayers at the Meenakshi Amman temple before flagging off the yatra.
In his address to the media, the state BJP president launched a scathing attack on the DMK government and accused it of administrative failure and increasing lawlessness in Tamil Nadu.
Nagendran said, “The DMK government has failed to protect women and children. People are suffering. Even sanitation workers are punished for holding peaceful protests.” “The countdown to DMK rule has started,” he said.
Expressing confidence that the BJP-AIADMK will win the upcoming state assembly elections with an overwhelming majority, Nagendran said, “The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will form the next government in Tamil Nadu, and Edappadi K. Palaniswami will take oath as the Chief Minister.”
