On Thursday, a five -member Trinamool Congress delegation met with Pakistani shell -affected families in Poonch district, expressing solidarity with families and confirmed their commitment to humanity and peace.
After meeting the families and seeing the loss, TMC MP Derek O ‘Bryan underlined how they have been “transferred” to the affected families.
“We have moved deeply … one has to be mentally prepared. What we have seen in the last 2 hours is running deeply. We can imagine how you (locals) are feeling, as it is in Poonch, it is not keen to come to public life and share ideas with those who have been sent here.
Earlier, the party had said in a post on X that the delegation also met with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who described him on a large scale about the problems of the people of the border villages.
“A five -member delegation of our party traveled to Jammu and Kashmir to express solidarity with people affected by cross -border violence. After a meaningful meeting with Honorable CM Omar Abdullah, the team visited the Pinch, where they stood with grieving families, briefly and offer our commitment,” TMC posts.
The five-member delegation, in which MP Derek O’Brien, MP Nadimul Haque, West Bengal Minister Manas Ranjan Bhunia, MP Sagarika Ghosh and MP Mamta Bala Thakur reached Srinagar on 21 May.
A TMC MP highlighted how the shells have influenced people, in a video released by the party on X.
TMC’s Manas Bhaunia said in the video, “We reached Srinagar yesterday, and witnessed by Pakistan in the areas of Poonch and Rajouri after bullets from across the border. These attacks have caused significant damage to many people.”
He said, “We provide our deep sympathy, respect and solidarity to the affected families. That is why, we are here as the representative of AITC,” he said.
Further in the video, Sagarika Ghosh said that the party’s delegation met with JK Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and later expressed her condolences to the family and confirmed her commitment to humanity and peace.
“There was a meeting with Omar Abdullah, the CM told us extensively what problems and difficulties people are facing in the border villages. How people have been killed and how we can help in the field. We believe that every life is valuable and important,” Ghosh said.
India launched Operation Sindor on 7 May on 7 April as a decisive military response to the Pahgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. The Indian armed forces targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, causing more than 100 militants associated with terrorist organizations such as Jai-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.
After the attack, Pakistan attempted drone attacks with the Line of Control and Jammu and Kashmir as well as border areas, after which India launched a coordinated attack and damaged radar infrastructure, communication centers and air areas at 11 airbase in Pakistan.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, 16 people have been killed and 59 others were injured due to Pakistani shelling.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said during a press briefing, “The anti -anti -retaliation taken by Pakistan is really affecting the citizens … other citizens were killed and injured in these attacks. In fact, since yesterday morning, a total of 16 citizens have been killed, and 59 others have been injured in Pakistan attacks.” (AI)
