Delhi Red Fort Blast Live Updates: At least 12 people have died in a car blast near Red Fort Metro Station Gate No. 1. While the blast site has been cordoned off, security at the Red Fort complex has been increased manifold and the monument has been closed for tourists till November 13.
The blast occurred at 6:52 pm inside a Hyundai i20 car as it was moving slowly near the Red Fort metro station. Eight people died that day, and four succumbed to their injuries on 11 November. According to news agency PTI, at least 27 people were injured and are undergoing treatment at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) hospital.
The investigation was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on November 11 following Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s meeting with top security officials. There is suspicion of terrorist connection in the case.
Delhi Police registered a case at Kotwali police station under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), Explosives Act and Indian Justice Code. Police registered a case under sections 16 and 18 of the UAPA, sections 3 and 4 of the Explosives Act and sections 103(1), 109(1), and 61(2) of the BNS.
