Patna, Nov 14 (IANS) As the counting for the Bihar polls is underway, a poster was put up outside Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s residence on Friday with the message, “Tiger Abhi Zinda Hai, Hindu Muslim Sikh-Isai, Sab Ko Bahut-Bahut Dhanyawad.”

A day before the Bihar Assembly election results on Thursday, Janata Dal (United) had put up posters of Nitish Kumar outside its party office which read, “Tiger Abhi Zinda Hai”.

Apart from the posters displayed outside the JD(U) office, the party also shared the same message on its official

Meanwhile, counting of votes for all 243 constituencies in the Bihar Assembly elections is taking place amid elaborate and multi-layered security arrangements.

The counting of votes began at 8 am with the processing of postal ballots, followed by counting of votes from electronic voting machines (EVMs) at 8.30 am.

Multi-layered security cordon has been implemented at 46 counting centers in 38 districts of the state. The internal security level around the strongroom and counting hall is manned by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). The security of the outer perimeter is handled by Bihar Police and district police forces.

More than 106 companies of security personnel have also been deployed from outside the state. The strongroom, where the EVMs and VVPATs were sealed, has been under constant 24/7 CCTV surveillance since the completion of polling.

Candidates and their agents were allowed to monitor security outside the inner perimeter.

The counting of votes is being monitored by 243 returning officers and 243 counting observers appointed by the Election Commission. There are also more than 18,000 counting agents appointed by the candidates to oversee the process. Only persons with valid passes are allowed entry into the counting centres, and use of mobile phones inside the counting halls is strictly prohibited.
