Amaravati, Nov 2 (IANS) Three intermediate students drowned on a beach in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district on Sunday. Police gave this information.
A joyous trip of three friends to Mypadu beach in Indukurupet mandal ended in a tragic incident.
The intermediate second year (Class 12) students of a college in Nellore city were swept away by the strong tide while they were taking a bath, police said.
Local fishermen ran to save the boys but by then they had drowned.
Later they took out the dead bodies.
The bodies were taken to the government hospital for post-mortem.
The victims were identified as Pathan Humayun and Sameed and Pathan Mohammad Tazeem. Everyone was 17 years old.
According to the police, the youth entered the water despite warnings from the people present on the beach.
Locals say the sea condition remains rough due to the recent cyclone Montha, which crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast last week.
Meanwhile, a young couple was killed and three others injured in a road accident in Bibinagar on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Sunday.
A speeding car went off the road and collided with a two-wheeler parked on the roadside.
Police said Prashant (33) and his wife Prasuna (32), who had parked their two-wheeler on the roadside, had gone to attend a phone call.
Prashant died on the spot, while Prasun was thrown into a nearby pond and drowned. Rescue workers later recovered his body.
The couple, residents of Bhongir town, were traveling towards Warangal. They got married three years ago.
The police sent the bodies to the government hospital for post-mortem.
Shamukha (20), who was driving the car, and his friends Bhargav and Sairitu (both aged 18) suffered multiple injuries.
He has been admitted to the government hospital in Bhongir.
According to the police, the car was being driven carelessly.
All three were going to Yadagirigutta temple from Hyderabad.
Police have registered the case and started further investigation.
