Indore, October 13 (IANS) Three people died and twenty-five others were injured in a tragic road accident when a tractor-trolley overturned near Chandravatiganj in Sanwer near Indore.
However, officials later confirmed another death.
Those killed in the accident have been identified as Jankibai (40) and Kamla Bai (50), while a minor died when he was being taken for medical aid.
According to police officials, the condition of two others is critical and they will soon be taken to a hospital in Indore.
It is said that the victims were farmers and were returning home after working in the fields all day.
The tractor-trolley, commonly used for group transportation in rural areas, lost balance and overturned, throwing all the passengers and injuring them. The exact cause of the accident has not been confirmed yet.
Agricultural laborers were returning from Ratankhedi to their homes in Hariyakhedi and Bivikhedi. Police said that the vehicle overturned in the middle of the road. Emergency services responded rapidly and 15 ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
The injured were taken to Civil Hospital Saver for immediate treatment.
The district administration has alerted government and private hospitals to control the number of casualties. A senior police officer said that around 25 farmers, including women, were traveling in the trolley at the time of the incident.
“All the people sitting in the trolley were injured when it overturned,” the officer said. Tractor-trolleys are often used by the farming community for passenger transportation, a practice that raises significant safety concerns.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and assess whether overloading or road conditions may have played a role.
Local authorities have assured that necessary medical care is being provided to the injured and further assistance will be provided to the families of the deceased. The community is in mourning as the region grapples with the aftermath of the devastating accident.
