Geneva, Switzerland:
Three people were killed and three others injured in a helicopter crash on Tuesday in the Petite Cambin in the Swiss Alps, police said.
Wallis Regional Police said in a statement that the B3 helicopter crashed at the landing site while the helicopter was landing.
“After reaching the top of the mountain at an altitude of 3,668 meters, the aircraft slid down the north slope. The reason is yet to be determined by investigation,” the statement said.
On board were the pilot, a mountain guide and his four clients. Their identities have not been released.
Seven helicopters were dispatched to the scene as part of the rescue effort.
The two injured were quickly treated and airlifted to hospital in Sion, the capital of Wallis state. A third person was later rescued, police said.
“Unfortunately, the other three passengers on the flight were found to have no vital signs,” the statement said.
Elsewhere in southeastern Wallis state, three people were killed in an avalanche on Monday, including a 15-year-old boy from the United States.
