Patna, Nov 3 (IANS) At least three people were killed and three others seriously injured in a road accident in Bihar’s Vaishali district on Monday morning.
This horrific accident happened near Nipar village of Industrial Police Station area of the district at around 4 am in the morning.
According to the in-charge of the Industrial Police Station, a speeding luxury car going from Purnia towards Hajipur collided with the back of a 16-wheeler truck parked on the road. The collision was so strong that the car was blown to pieces.
All the deceased and injured were associated with an exit poll team working during the Bihar Assembly elections.
As soon as they heard the sound of collision, local residents reached the spot and informed the police.
Personnel from the Industrial Police Station used a crane to rescue the bodies trapped inside the vehicle.
The bodies were sent to Sadar Hospital, Hajipur for post-mortem, while the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Industrial police station in-charge Arvind Paswan said preliminary investigation revealed that the accident occurred due to over-speeding.
He said, “Since the accident site is an industrial area, a large number of trucks are standing in queue on the roadside, waiting for their turn to load the material. A speeding car hit the truck from behind. The condition of the injured is critical.” He said a formal investigation has been initiated.
The injured have been identified as Pushpa Choudhary (28), native of Milky village, Hajipur, Shalini Verma (26), native of Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh and Kapil Kumar (24), native of Sitapur.
“The victims were coming from Purnia side. We suspect that the driver of the vehicle might have fallen asleep for a few seconds, leading to the accident,” Paswan said.
“We have identified the victims and their family members have been informed about the accident,” he said.
After the accident, a tense atmosphere prevailed in the area.
