Guna, November 20 (IANS) Three youths died on the spot and four others were seriously injured in a horrific collision between a car and a speeding truck on Thursday in Bajranggarh police station area of Guna district of Madhya Pradesh.
The accident occurred around 4 am near Duhai Mandir turn on Aaron Road – a notorious sharp blind turn that was long termed the “accident black spot” by locals and officials.
Speaking to IANS, Sub-Divisional Officer (Police) Priyanka Mishra said the seven close friends were traveling from Aaron towards Guna in a Maruti Suzuki Swift when their car collided with a heavy truck coming from the opposite direction at high speed at a dangerous turn.
“The collision was so severe that the entire front part of the car was completely crushed beyond recognition, trapping the occupants inside,” the officer said.
The three youths who died instantly have been identified as Akash, Namo Narayan and Manish.
Final confirmation of name, surname and age will be released only after the bodies are formally identified by family members.
The four injured – Suraj, Ajay Shakya, Yogesh and another Akash – are fighting for their lives in a critical condition at Guna District Hospital.
After the collision, the truck went off the road, overturned and stopped. The driver left the vehicle and ran away from the spot. Police have seized the truck, registered a case under sections of rash driving and causing death by negligence and launched a search.
Teams are scanning nearby CCTV footage to trace the absconding driver. Hearing the deafening crash, residents rushed to the spot and helped pull the victims out of the debris with the help of a crane.
Heartbreaking scenes unfolded when distraught family members reached the spot and started crying after seeing their loved ones. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem.
