Shivamogga, October 30 (IANS) Three people were killed and another seriously injured when a goods vehicle collided with a tree in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district on Thursday morning.
The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Asadullah, 33-year-old Firoz and 31-year-old Sadiq, residents of Tavre Chatanalli.
Irfan, the driver of the vehicle, suffered serious injuries and was admitted to Megan Hospital in Bengaluru by the locals.
The incident occurred within Shivamogga rural police station limits when the victims were returning from Balehonnur after completing carpentry work in a goods vehicle.
Police suspect that the accident occurred due to the driver of the goods vehicle dozing off.
The police have started further investigation.
On Tuesday night, a medical student from KRIMS Medical College, Karwar in Karnataka was killed, and another seriously injured, when their bike collided with a buffalo that suddenly came onto the road near Mashem in Goa.
The deceased was identified as Adarsh Pujari (23), a third year MBBS student at KRIMS. The injured student was identified as Raunak Chawla.
On Tuesday night, both of them were going from Canacona towards Karwar on bike, when suddenly a buffalo came in front of the car, due to which the car slipped.
Pujari and Chawla who were injured in the incident were immediately taken to Canacona Community Health Center (CHC). However, doctors said that the seriously injured Poojari died during treatment.
On October 26, a container lorry lost control and overturned into a ditch, killing two workers on the spot and seriously injuring four others near Siddaiyanadoddy in Anekal taluk on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
Sriman (25) from Andhra Pradesh and lorry driver Srinivas (28) from Jharkhand lost their lives in the accident.
The lorry, which was moving rapidly downhill, went out of control at a turn and rolled into a ditch, trapping the bodies of two workers inside the vehicle.
Police took out the bodies with the help of a crane and took the injured to the hospital.
