Hyderabad, 23 September (IANS) Siberbad police arrested two auto-rickshaw drivers and a car driver for kidnapping, gang rape and murder of a 32-year-old woman.
A week after the victim’s body was found in Kisathapur village, the police resolved the case with the arrest of the three accused – Ghulam Dastagir Khan, 26 and Mohammed. 25-year-old Imran, both auto-rickshaw driver and Meka Durga Reddy, a car driver.
According to the station house officer of Rajendranagar police station, the woman who went missing for three days was found drunk by Durga Reddy on 14 September.
The accused lured him in his vehicle, bought his beer and biryani, and assaulted him near his KLCC function hall, Sathamarai. He then dropped her on Pillar No. 306, Aramagar X Road. Later, Dasthagir and Imran included him in his rented auto and turned to Kisthpur Bridge and gang -raped her. When he protested, Khan assaulted him with sticks. They ran away, left his body in the bushes.
The disintegrated body of the victim was seen by the locals two days later, and they alerted the police.
Special operations team of Siberbad, along with Rajendranagar police, examined footage of CCTV cameras installed on the roads leading to the crime site. He made zero to the auto rickshaw in which both the accused brought the victim.
The police identified the accused, and during interrogation, they confessed to the crime. During the reconstruction of the crime site, the police noticed that someone had dropped the woman in Aramgarh. The police then identified the person as Durga Reddy and picked him up for questioning. He admitted to sexually harassing the woman.
After intensive investigation, the police cracked the case and arrested the accused.
The accused were earlier involved in criminal cases. Dastagir Khan had two theft cases against him in Gachibovali and Rajendra Nagar police stations. Imran Rash was involved in driving and attacking policemen. Durga Reddy has also been accused in four cases of theft and attack.
