Ghazni:
Taliban authorities publicly executed two men convicted of murder at a football stadium in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday, according to an AFP reporter at the scene.
Two people were shot from behind in the city of Ghazni after Supreme Court official Atiqullah Darwish read aloud the death warrant signed by Taliban supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada Multiple gun executions.
“The two men were found guilty of murder… and the order has been signed after a two-year trial in the country’s courts,” Darwish said.
Thousands of men gathered in the stadium to witness the execution.
Family members of the two victims were present and asked if they would be willing to grant the death penalty a reprieve at the last minute, but they both declined.
