Thousands of railway passengers will have to face disruption during the upcoming Christmas Duration due to engineering works.
It has been announced that many busy rail lines of the UK will be affected along with routes including services between London Waterloo and Cambridge region, Leeds and York and West Coast Main Line (WCML).

On Christmas day and between 5 January, no train will work between Milton Keins and Rugby, which enables a track to convert a Junction into a Hanslope, Buckinghamshire.
Replacement of a bridge over M6 dating back in the 1960s means that there will be no service between Preston and Carlisle between New Year’s Eve and 15 January.
Due to signaling work, there will be no train between Karlisle and Locker between New Year’s Day and 7 January.
There will be no train between Leeds and York between Christmas days and 26 January on the network.
No train will run between Cambridge North, Cambridge, Burry St. Edmunds and Stanstad Airport on Christmas day and 5 January.
London Waterloo, one of the busiest stations in the UK, will be closed for trains between Christmas days and 28 December, and a low timetable between December 29 to January 4.
In Scotland, between Christmas eve and 2 January, there will be no train between Dalmuir and Balloch/Hallensburg Central or between Glasgow Queen Street and Kryanlerich.
Network Rail said that some 95 percent of Britain’s railway would be unaffected by engineering work.

But, as usual, the entire network will close on Christmas day.
Most operators will not run any trains on Boxing Day, but there will be a very limited timetable in a handful.
Helen Hamleen, the main network operator of the network rail, said: “The period between Christmas and the New Year is the best on the railway and is the best time for us to do major projects that will take more time to meet a night or weekend.
“We are working with train operators, who are working to organize diversity and rail replacement buses for travelers, but further plans are still very important.
“This is especially the case this year because we have some huge schemes to improve the railways, which means that people may have to travel home on different routes after Christmas, the way they traveled.”
