Britain’s largest ever Environmental pollution Preparations are reported to file legal action in the High CourtDesertation“Y River.
Thousands of residents and local trade owners have joined the claim against two industrial chicken production firms and Welsh Water, saying that alleged pollution has been spread by companies in the river.Serious impactOn business and holiday in the area.
About 4,000 contenders are “adequate damage” and mandate Cleanliness order From Avara Foods Limited, Freeman’s of NewAnt Limited and Welsh Water, a lawyer calls “the last route to justice”.
The legal firm Leh Dey, which is leading the claim, said in a statement that this Y, its tributary belongs to Usak and River Lug, which passes through Wales and Southwest England.
The claim alleges that the rivers have been polluted due to the water flowing from the surrounding field, including “thousands of tons” poultry fertilizer due to the spread of poultry manure “high concentrations of phosphorus, nitrogen and bacteria”.
It states that this pollution has increased algae, causing fishes to suffocate, damage animals, and “death of major species” has occurred and its rot has caused bad smell.

It alleges that the movements of companies are in a violation of private disturbances, public disturbances and overcharges (from the sewage stored on the river floor), and the accumulation of fertilizer and bio-solid materials on agricultural land is a violation of the Environmental Protection Act.
Leh Dey said: “Everyone alleges that Avara, Freemans and Welsh Water River are responsible for pollution and since August 2019, it has a serious impact on businesses, entertainment, tourism and property values and demands adequate compensation from the court.
“They also demand from the court that the three companies should be ordered to clean and repair the rivers.”
Oliver Holland, who is leading the claim in Li & Day, said: “We see this legal claim as the result of the exceptional effort to research, monitor and advocate its rivers by local community members and campaign groups. Formally this legal action is a solid step towards protecting these important national ecological systems.
“The court will now listen to prominent experts on allegations of environmental damage, and will be asked to order those responsible for cleaning these communities and wildlife dependent on them.
“This is the biggest legal action ever in the UK regarding environmental pollution. In the context where the government and regulators have failed to stop the erosion of our rivers, the court has become the final way to justice. Our customers believe that they have no other option but to seek accountability through the legal system – and this is the next step in that journey.”

A spokesperson for Welsh Water said that he intended to “protect the case strongly”, he has invested £ 70 million in the improvement of his sites on the river Wei over the last five years.
It states, “We are currently investing £ 33 million to improve the Usak River. Unfortunately, the water pollution caused by other areas during this period has increased considerably, which has reduced the overall impact of the improvement in the water quality of us.
“We intend to prevent the matter strongly: the fact that we are a non-profit company, which means any payment to these contenders will necessarily reduce the amount that we can re-invest to provide further improvements for all our customers and environmental benefits.”
A spokesperson of Avara Foods commented: “We share concerns about the condition of the Y river, but we believe that this legal claim is based on misunderstandings, as no manure is stored or spread on poultry farms supplying Avara foods only, where poultry fertilizer is used as fertilizer, it is used for other agricultural areas.
“Individual farmers are responsible for how nutrients are used in their arable works. Avara is not involved in any arable work and has no control over this activity. All our poultry is produced according to the standards in the UK which are one of the highest standards in the world.
“Instead there is a need to focus on solutions that will improve the health of the river, address the effects of all types of pollution and climate change, and will be taken accordingly.
