“Those who complete this cowardly work will be punished”: Pahgam Terror Attack on Tarun Chug of BJP

BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Sunday condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and said that those involved in the “cowardly act” would not be spared.

Talking to ANI, Chugh said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear today that the unity of 140 crore Indians is our greatest strength. Certainly, those who carry out this cowardly work (Pahgam terror attack) will be punished, their ecosystem will be destroyed. The people who killed the citizens of the country will be destroyed.”

The Pahalgam terror attack has launched a comprehensive call for strong action against Pakistan.

Earlier today, former army chief and Mizoram Governor General VK Singh expressed grief over the Pahalgam terror attack and called the public to take precautions to prevent similar incidents in future.

Singh also emphasized the importance of patience, saying that the central government is actively addressing the situation.

Singh told reporters, “This is a very sad incident. The government is taking some action against it. We all need to be patient. We need to keep our eyes and ears open in the future so that if we see something unusual, we can catch it in advance,” Singh told reporters.

Trinmool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee called for decisive measures, urged India to go beyond symbolic reactions and take direct action.

Banerjee said that it was “time to teach them a lesson in a language that they understand” and “Pakistan captured Kashmir (PoK).”

In a post on X, Banerjee said, “It’s time that we rise above such petty politics and confront the issue decisively, once and for all. It is not a moment for more surgical strikes or symbolic threats for Pakistan. It’s time to teach them a lesson in the language they understand.

On 22 April, the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir targeted tourists, killing 26 people, including a Nepali National. The victims were closed near Besaran Meadow, a popular tourist destination in the region. The attack is one of the deadliest in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack, resulting in the death of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawans.

In response, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) teams have been posted on the site from 23 April. These teams, led by senior anti-terrorism agency officials, have intensified their efforts to gather evidence. Eyewitnesses watching the attack are being questioned in the dialect to connect the incidents together.

The Indian Army has also started several operations in a state with alert height to neutralize the terrorists involved. After the attack, nationwide protests erupted, demanding strict action against Pakistan for their alleged role in sponsoring terrorism.

On 23 April, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) met and gave detailed information about the attack. The committee strongly condemned the incident and expressed its condolences to the families of the victims, while also wished for a fast recovery of the injured.

As part of the response, India has taken an important step by taking back its defense, Navy and aerial advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. These posts are now considered canceled, and five assistant staff members of service advisors will also be withdrawn by both missions. (AI)
