“I thought the boys and the team deserved a little more excitement and they could have helped us in the second half. It’s just that way.
“They should not underestimate how much it helps sometimes if the game slows down a bit.
“If they kept it going again it might have helped us and then we probably could have scored. It would have been easier to get the energy and score the fourth goal.
“It’s a give and take, so that was it for today. I liked the support in Serbia, I’m sure we’ll have top support in Latvia and of course once we get to the World Cup it will be excellent.”
If England beat Latvia on Tuesday and have favorable results elsewhere in Group K, they can qualify for next year’s World Cup with two matches remaining.
Tuchel’s side round out qualification by welcoming Serbia to Wembley before completing qualification in Albania the following month, with a pair of home friendlies in March next year.
Asked if he would prefer not to see either of them at the national stadium, he said: “No, no. Don’t make a big deal out of it. I’m pretty sure we’ll play here and have no problems.”
England, who are fourth in FIFA’s world rankings, are said to be considering playing Asian and South American opponents in March to aid World Cup preparations.
Japan, the world’s highest-ranked Asian team at 19th, have also reportedly been included along with Marcelo Bielsa’s 15th-placed Uruguay.
