Thomas Frank have defended mickey van de ven after liverpool Owner Arne Slott called your tackle alexander isaac “Careless”.

Sweden is international Expected to be sidelined for a few months after fracturing his leg When tackled by Van de Ven in Saturday’s game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The challenge came when Van de Ven attempted to stop Isak in the penalty area, with the striker unable to celebrate his goal and was helped off the pitch by medical staff.

Van de Ven was not penalized for the tackle, but Unhappy Slott said on Tuesday It was a “reckless challenge”, and added: “If you do it 10 times, I think 10 times there is a serious possibility of serious injury to a player.”

Speaking later on Tuesday, Tottenham boss Thomas Frank said: “Obviously I disagree.

“In many ways, we’re talking about a protector who will do everything to avoid [conceding] Target. It is an infection so he is coming back fast. A ball has slipped into the side and he tries everything possible to stop that shot.

“Unfortunately, Isak has put his foot straight there which makes it look worse than before. That would be a natural reaction for any defender.

“Or, put it this way, if my defender doesn’t do it, I don’t think they’re a true defender. I don’t see that at all. I think reckless challenges, generally, as I remember, you haven’t seen any challenges from Mikey. I see him as a very fair and competitive player. That’s one thing.”

Frank suggested that Van de Ven had spoken to Isak after this, adding: “I also know that both players have sorted it out, so that’s a good sign.”

Frank also said the club would not appeal against Xavi Simmons’ red card in the same eventful game, when Tottenham had both the Dutchman and captain Cristian Romero sent off.

“I would like to do it,” he said, “but because of the way the rules are, it doesn’t make sense. I’m told it won’t get us anything. It’s just the way it is.”

Simmons will serve a three-game ban following a straight raid for a challenge on Virgil van Dijk and will only make his return in the New Year against Bournemouth.
