Australian mixed martial arts (MMA) coach Rento Subotic was detained for 24 hours and sent to jail due to visa issue after touching the United States.
Speaking of the incident on Instagram, Mr. Subotic revealed that he came to the US to coach a seminar when he was stopped by immigration officials on the border. He said that the immigration pulled him aside and took him to a separate room where he questioned him for about three hours.
The head coach of the MMA Australian national team said that despite cooperating and explaining everything, officials said that there was a mistake with their visas. The authorities took him to jail until he came to know what is next. ,
He said, “Just like this. No clarification, no chance to talk to anyone, and no right. They handcuffed me, put me in a car, and sent me to the federal jail.”
Mr. Subotic said that he took off his clothes and gave him a prison dress. He said, “They snatched me everything. I took my clothes, gave me jail clothes, fed me, took pictures, discovered me. Gave me a blanket and sheet,” he said.
After that he was taken to his block, he saw people shouting, fighting on food and running around. After putting his belongings on a mattress covered in blood and urine, he was taken to a place where he was given food.
He said that when he returned to his cell, he saw two people stealing their belongings. He said, “We had a fight. I got my luggage back. The other one went out of the cell, screaming, people came to see in the nearby cells.
After being treated badly in the US, the Australian coach is now thinking about taking legal action. He said, “Now I am back to Australia, I will talk with my lawyers. The way I was treated, something is to be done. Hope it never happens to someone else,” he said.
