Surveillance footage shows the moment two thieves entered a room California Museum and stole over 1,000 artifacts.
on Monday (3 November) san francisco The FBI office and Oakland police released footage of the theft, which took place last month at the Oakland Museum’s off-site storage facility.
Some of the items stolen included an old photograph, some jewelry, a woven Native American basket, and walrus tusk.
Museum officials and investigators believe the crime was one of opportunity, stating that “there is no indication that the perpetrators specifically identified the facility as museum storage or sought particular artifacts or artifacts”.
Museum director Lori Fogarty said, “I think it’s very possible that the people who stole these objects didn’t actually know what they had.”
