Lucknow, Nov 10 (IANS) Voting for the second phase of Bihar assembly elections is scheduled for November 11, covering 122 constituencies. Ahead of voting, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Monday expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will return to power in Bihar with a decisive majority.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, speaking to IANS, said, “I appeal to all voters to vote in large numbers in the second phase as they did in the first phase. There is a clear NDA wave in the Bihar Assembly elections, which has created a situation of panic and confusion within the Grand Alliance.”

He claimed that once again NDA government will be formed in Bihar with an overwhelming majority.

Maurya claimed, “People have expressed their confidence in the NDA. The NDA has served the country with commitment and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been serving Bihar continuously for the last 20 years. People are satisfied with his governance. Meanwhile, internal conflict continues within the Grand Alliance, as leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav do not want Tejashwi Yadav to become the Chief Minister.”

Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak also expressed similar sentiments and said that the NDA is ready to achieve a comprehensive victory.

“The NDA is ready to form the government with an overwhelming majority in the second phase. People are voting for development and stability under the NDA irrespective of caste, religion and community,” he said.

The campaign for the last phase of Bihar Assembly elections to be held on Tuesday (November 11) ended on Sunday evening.

In this phase, voting will be held in a total of 122 constituencies in 20 districts. In the first phase, voting was held on 121 seats in 18 districts. This time, 1,302 candidates are contesting, including 136 women – about 10 per cent of the total. Voting will take place across 45,399 polling stations, with 3.70 crore voters – 1.95 crore men and 1.74 crore women – eligible to cast their votes.

The 122 constituencies going to polls in this phase are spread across the central, western and northern regions of Bihar. The BJP traditionally dominates Tirhut, Saran and North Mithilanchal, which includes East Champaran, West Champaran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi and Saran.

JD(U) has retained influence in Bhagalpur, while the Grand Alliance has a strong base in the Magadh region including Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, Jehanabad and Arwal. However, Congress is dependent on its allies for political strength in these areas.
