He added: “The Academy is an international organization, and this partnership will allow us to give the Academy’s work access to the largest audiences around the world – which will be beneficial to our Academy members and the film community.
“This collaboration will leverage YouTube’s immense reach and infuse the Oscars and other Academy programming with innovative engagement opportunities while honoring our legacy. We’ll be able to celebrate cinema, inspire new generations of filmmakers, and provide access to our film history on an unprecedented global scale.”

ABC will continue to air the Oscars until 2028, which will be the 100th ceremony.
YouTube CEO Neil Mohan said in a statement: “The Oscars are one of our essential cultural institutions, honoring excellence in storytelling and artistry.
“Partnering with the Academy to bring this celebration of arts and entertainment to audiences around the world will inspire creativity and a new generation of film lovers while staying true to the historic legacy of the Oscars.”
The deal also includes rights to a series of other Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences programs, which will also be broadcast via YouTube. It features the Governors Awards, Oscar nomination announcement, Oscar Nominees Luncheon, Student Academy Awards, Scientific and Technical Awards, Academy members, and various interviews with filmmakers.
Google, which owns YouTube, will partner with the Academy through its Google Arts & Culture initiative to provide digital access to some Academy Museum exhibitions and will work to digitize the Academy collection.
