‘There is no right to appeal for Kulbhaushan Jadhav because …’: Pak Supreme Court told

The Indian National Kulbhushan Jadhav, who is in a Pakistan jail that he was an Indian detective, was not given the right to appeal after the judgment by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in 2019 as the verdict addressed only the case of consular access, Pakistani newspaper. Dawn Informed,

While giving a verdict in favor of India in June 2019, ICJ confirmed Mr. Jadhav’s right to consular access and called Pakistan to review and reconsider its punishment and death sentence.

Pakistan’s Defense Ministry lawyer Khwaja Haris Ahmed on Wednesday mentioned the case of Mr. Jadhav before a constitutional bench of the Supreme Court of that country, during the proceedings against the Pakistani citizen, who were convicted by military courts in a large scale for the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in May 2023.

Mr. Ahmed said that the right to appeal which was available to Mr. Jadhav, however, was not given to its citizens of Pakistan, who were convicted in the matters of the May 2023 riots.

The Pakistani Supreme Court was told that the Attorney General Mansoor Usman Avan was busy consulting the question of giving the right to the convicts of the May 9 incidents to the convicts of the incident of May 9, Dawn Informed

Pakistan claims that Mr. Jadhav was arrested from Balochistan in 2016 on charges of espionage and terrorism.

In the ruling, the ICJ also told Pakistan that the execution of Mr. Jadhav should remain suspended as long as Pakistan effectively reviews punishment and punishment.

A year after the World Court’s verdict in July 2020, India said that Pakistan refused to implement the ICJ verdict in “letters and spirit”, even after the court agreed with India’s stand with India’s stand, Pakistan violated the Vienna Convention, which was denying it a consular access.

India has prosecuted for blaming Mr. Jadhav “Persian”.
