The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has urged residents to stay away from beaches on Thursday (December 4) as the city is likely to witness a high tide of 4.96 meters late at night. According to the civic body, high tides of more than 4 meters have been predicted on Mumbai beaches between December 4 and 7. The strongest tide in this window is expected to occur at 11:52pm on Thursday, when sea levels will reach 4.96 metres.

The BMC has advised visitors visiting Chaitya Bhoomi and Shivaji Park on December 6 – the death anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar – to be cautious near the coast. Every year thousands of followers gather at Chaitya Bhoomi to pay homage at the memorial where Ambedkar was cremated in 1956.
