“There are cracks”: Indian coach’s honest review of the pitch for Ranchi Test cricket news

India batting coach Vikram Rathore on Thursday said the wicket in Ranchi, which will host the fourth Test against England, has “enough cracks” and will be helpful for the spinners, but insisted he has the skills to deal with any situation. There is enough firepower to. India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been the top wicket-taker of the series but he will miss the fourth Test after being given a break to manage his workload. The move has led many to believe that India will be in for a rank turner in the fourth Test starting on Friday.

On the eve of the match, Rathod told reporters, “Whenever we play in India, there are question marks on the pitch… This is a typical Indian wicket, it has cracks, this wicket always had cracks.”

“It will change, but by how much and when, we are not sure. But there is enough balance in our team.” He said that Bumrah is absolutely fine but it is not ‘fair’ to feed him continuously. The India batsman has bowled 80.5 overs in three Test matches, taking 17 wickets at an average of 13.64.

Rathod said, “To be honest, I think every Test match is an important Test match. With WTC points, every game is important. Even we would like Bumrah to play all the matches.”

“But unfortunately that’s not very fair because of the kind of workload he’s had in the last three games. He’s bowled really well and bowled with a lot of heart, a lot of effort.”

“With the kind of schedule we have in the future, with the IPL and all that, everyone involved felt that he should be given a break. Otherwise he is absolutely fine physically. But it was felt that it would be better if he “Be given a break. A break because there was no turnaround time in the middle of the game.” India’s top-order batsman KL Rahul, who is rehabbing after battling quadriceps pain, has also been ruled out of the fourth Test and looks doubtful to play in Dharamsala.

He said, “For me he is either fit or not. At the moment he is not fit. I am not sure what percentage he is fit at the moment and what is the stage.”

“I’m not sure the medical team will be able to advise that but as far as we are concerned he is not fit and not available for this game, so we are focusing on this team.” When asked about players leaving matches in Ranji Trophy, Rathod said, “It is the job of the selectors to choose 15 players. It is better to ask this question to them, I used to be a selector but I am not anymore.”

“At the moment we are seeing that people who have done well in domestic cricket are promoted. It is a good thing that everyone should get a chance.”
