India’s Foreign Ministry has revealed that 682 Indian citizens have been deported from the United States since January 2025, with an attempt to illegally enter the country illegally. Foreign Minister, Kirti Vidhan Singh on Friday informed the Lok Sabha that these exile is unlikely to affect the remittance flow in India, as most of the exiles were arrested on the US border and was deported after verification.

The Government of India is working closely with American officials to address issues related to illegal immigration and human trafficking. Mr. Singh stressed that the government is taking strong action against criminal facilities and illegal immigration networks. The government is also promoting mutually beneficial and safe mobility structure to streamline the movement of students, professionals and tourists.

“The Government of India continues to work in close coordination with the US government, which is on all examples of exile of individuals who illegally enter America, or have reduced their validity of their visa, or have been found living in America without any documents or criminal beliefs against them.”

“The list of individuals identified by the American side for exile by the American side is closely examined and verified by the concerned agencies of the Government of India. Only those persons who are verified to be Indian citizens are accepted to be sent to India,” he said.

In response to a separate question, Mr. Singh said that the government does not maintain data on those who may have entered the US through illegal means. However, on the basis of accounts according to the return, the government has registered cases and is investigating several illegal immigration agents and human trafficking syndicates.

“Data on such people is obtained from American officials only in terms of repatriation exercises on time -time. To be deported and deported, central and concerned state governments and agencies have registered registered cases, and are working against several illegal immigration agents, criminal facilities along with investigation.”

The US has deported a total of 15,564 Indian citizens from 2009 to 2024, 388 persons have been deported since January 2025. Exile has expressed concern about the treatment of exile, with the Government of India strongly recorded its concerns with American officials.

Breaking exile:

– 333 Indians deported directly from the US on three separate chartered flights in February 2025

– 55 Indians deported through Panama on commercial flights

– 295 persons were detained in American custody
